PAN 40 Tablet contains pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid made in the stomach. It is used to treat acid-related conditions of the stomach and intestine, such as heartburn, acid reflux and peptic ulcer disease, relieving symptoms and helping healing.

It is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity caused by long-term use of painkillers.

Take it one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning, and swallow it whole. The dose depends on your condition and how you respond to it. Keep taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms improve quickly. Eating smaller, more frequent meals and avoiding tea, coffee, and spicy or fatty foods can make the treatment more effective.

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, flatulence, diarrhoea and stomach pain. These are usually mild; consult your doctor if they bother you or persist. Long-term use can increase the risk of side effects; for example, using it for more than a year may raise the risk of bone fractures, especially at higher doses. Ask your doctor about ways to protect your bones, such as calcium and vitamin D supplements.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems, take medicines for HIV, have had an allergic reaction to similar medicines, or have bone loss (osteoporosis). Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor first.
